"Damn fucking computers, they have a mind of their own, fucking technology. Gladly throw it out the airlock on a trip to space," she muttered as she stormed down the halls. "Fucking new machine as well," she grumbled, brushing past harried Preventer Agents as she headed to the only free computer that she knew off. Or at least she hoped it was still free.

"Ami," she called as she pushed through the filing room doors, juggling the heavy folders in her arms.

"She just stepped out on her lunch break," a familiar masculine voice answered her, and she froze.

"I didn't know that you worked in here," she finally replied as she shuffled further into the room. Dropping her folders onto Ami's desk with a sigh of relief.

"For the moment, I do," he muttered, glaring at the folders she had haphazardly dropped. "I hope those aren't for here." He commented.

"No, no, they're mine. I'm meant to be working on them at the moment, but my computer has gone insane. New computer too, no reason it should be giving troubles, no reason at all. I mean I did put my own safeguards in, but really. That's never bothered a machine I've ever worked on before, and this one had more bells and whistles than I could shake a stick at. It certainly had the resources to handle my modifications." She blushed, belatedly realizing that she was rambling. "Well it's true."

"The department has the best computers available due to Heero's insistence. He's the unofficial IT expert. You can ask him to take a look and he might be able to fix it. Or you could even ask Duo, he's on par with Heero for the most part. They have similar skills but slightly different areas of expertise."

She raised an eyebrow, eerily similar to the way Lady Une had raised hers at him this morning. But whereas Lady Une had been disbelieving of his true intentions, Midii was gob-smacked at his sudden change in before. She looked at him for a moment weighing the possibilities, before making her way over to check his temperature. A small, delicate hand reaching under his bangs to press against his forehead. Her mind refusing to let the feel of his skin distract her.

"You are Trowa Barton right? Not some evil clone or anything like that?" She asked half in jest as she stared at him.

"I am Trowa Barton." He responding fighting the urge to chuckle.

"Then if you don't mind my asking why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden? I mean, first you pick me up for work this morning and now you're a fountain of information. What gives?" She asked softly, staring at him with sorrow filled eyes.

"Duo and I had a long talk, and I was a jerk." He admitted, deciding that keeping her off balance was amusing, and a small part of him admitting that she looked cute when she was shocked or flabbergasted.

"Um."

"You also might want to talk to Duo, he feels awful about what he said."

"Aren't you meant to be the silent one?" She asked suddenly, throwing him off track.

"I only kept silent when there was nothing worthwhile to say, I have something worthwhile to say at the moment so I'll say it. I don't believe in unnecessary words." He glared at her smile, realizing that his explanation was long-winded and filled with those unnecessary words.

"I'll take what you said under advisement. But for the moment I need to work on these and I don't have the time to search out Duo or Heero and get one of them to fix that machine. Is that extra computer still lurking around here?" She asked, as she idly flipped through her folders, mentally tallying all she needed to do before the day was over.

He glanced at her, and then across the room at the old machine that was stuck in the corner, covered in dust. And then he glanced at her again.

"Well?"

"Dammit, why are you pulling this silent..." she trailed off finally noticing the computer in the corner and felt the heat rising up her cheeks. "Men," she muttered softly to herself.

"I hear Trouble got you good," Duo commented as he perched on the edge of Wufei's desk.

"Quiet."

"Would you by any chance know what happened to her computer?" He asked, ignoring the Chinese man's glare. "Because I took a look at it myself, after Trowa told me about it. Seems Trouble's in the file room bothering him now, because she can't do her work and she needs a working computer." He continued, fingers idly tapping against the edge of the desk. Violet eyes hooded.

Wufei dropped his gaze to his own desk. Cursing the childish need to get revenge on the blonde-haired menace.

"As I was saying, you wouldn't know what to her machine? Because I was going over the logs and there was an access to the machine a half hour before Trouble got into work this morning. Someone downloaded and installed some sort of program but I haven't had a chance to actively dig through the hard drive to remove it and repair the damage."

Duo glanced at the other man, waiting for him to crack.

"Well Wufei?"

"I did not touch that woman's computer," Wufei finally admitted smugly. It was the truth, he reasoned. He had not touched the computer, Hilde had, at his request, but...

"Just checking, because this could be considered a serious offense. Her computer is considered company property and you know Une's view on destroying company property, don't you Wufei?" Duo offered, and Wufei cringed.

Oh he knew Une's view on destroying company property all right; he had suffered her wrath on more than one occasion when he had sacrificed something for a mission when there were other means. He of course had also heard her yelling at Heero for doing the exact same thing on more than one occasion.

"Well I'm off to fix it; I hope it doesn't happen again."

"Midii?" Mariemaia called as she knocked on the office door.

"Hey, Red," Duo called with a grin and Mariemaia giggled.

"Is Midii here?" She asked softly, holding something behind her back.

"Nope, her computers busted. She's in the file room working on the old clunker."

"Old clunker?"

"Yup, the old machine that used to be in here before Lady Une got her a nice new one," he absently mindedly ran a hand down the sleek surface of the new machine as he explained Midii's exact whereabouts.

"Thank you!"

"Sure, Red," Duo said with a chuckle, liking the new nickname he'd decided on for the former-dictator-in-training.

Mariemaia smiled as she dragged her new puppy down the halls of Preventers, giggling as the female Preventers stopped to pet the wriggling bundle of mischief.

"Hello," a young woman greeted her with a smile and Mariemaia shyly smiled back as she hugged the door frame. "Can I help you with anything miss?"

"Yes please, I'm looking for Midii, Duo told me she was here."

"She's right there in the corner."

"Thank you!" Mariemaia chirped brightly she shuffled past, dragging her puppy.

Midii turned and dragged the younger girl into a hug glancing at the bundle of fur tugging furiously at the leash in Mariemaia's hands.

"And who is this rascal?" Midii asked as she reached down to pet slobbering mass.

"My new puppy, his name is Snuffles." Mariemaia proudly announced. Her face paling as she felt the leash slip through her hand. Midii looked on in horror as Snuffles raced to Trowa, who was balancing a large stack of files in his arms.

It happened in slow motion, Snuffles tripping Trowa and the folders flying in every which direction. And Trowa staggering to maintain his balance before he careened into another stack of folders.

"Uh oh," Mariemaia said, as she swallowed nervously, her blue eyes impossibly wide.

"Crap."

"Perfect."

"I think you better get Snuffles," Midii said as she moved away from her desk, reflexively saving her work not a moment too soon before Snuffles bounded into her legs. Jumping up and down excitedly as he tried to reach her hands. She watched in horror as he stepped on the power switch.

"Well at least I saved it," she muttered.
